Price’s Wharf

Price’s Wharf

The newly built Best Friend of Charleston train was delivered from The West Point Foundry in New York by way of the ship, “Niagra”, to Price’s Wharf in Charleston.  Price’s Wharf is not indicated on the maps available today, but thanks to the assistance of the South Carolina Room at the Charleston Public Library, the location of the wharf (renamed Accommodation Wharf in 1840) was discovered.

A Charleston Courier newspaper article describes a public flogging that took place on Accommodation Wharf (previously known as Price’s Wharf) in 1840.
